My name is Kelly Wieser.  I have been the K-12 Band and Vocal Director at Langford Public School since 1996.  My job consists of teaching Elementary Music, Junior and Senior High Chorus, Private lessons and 7-12 Band and Sociology.  In my time at Langford, I have had many rewarding experiences.  Each fall, the LHS Marching Lions compete in parades throughout the state, including the NSU Gypsy Day parade and the Lake Region Marching Band Festival in Waubay.  We have consistently placed in both of those events in recent years.

Other parts of my job description also include preparing students for concerts, contests and Elementary musicals.  One of my favorite parts of this job is the final concert of the year.  This typically has a theme and is performed by all of the music groups on the Junior and Senior High levels.  Many hours of preparation go into not only the music selection, and rehearsal, but decorating and making every detail count.  We are notorious for having a “big surprise” of some sort at the end of every Spring Concert.  Whether it be a 40-foot American flag being raised as “Stars and Stripes Forever” is played or characters from “The Wizard of Oz” strolling through the audience during selections from the musical, all students, staff and concert-goers look forward to this grand finale!  What better way to end the year!

I have been married to my husband, Don, since 1994 and have two children, Mitchell and Austen, who keep me on my toes when I am not at school.  I also love to try new recipes and watch the Minnesota Twins!
